Amplus Energy is pleased to announce that Miguel Mirilli has joined us as our new Country Manager for Brazil.
We sat down with Miguel to ask him about his role, his background, and what makes Amplus Energy the perfect FPSO solutions partner as we aim to boost our activity offshore Brazil.
Q: Describe your role as Country Manager for Amplus Energy in Brazil, and what your focus will be in the next few months?
A: My role is to build Amplus Energy’s presence locally, establishing the regulatory and commercial structures needed for us to operate in this market. Over the coming months, my focus will be on helping the company land its first contracts here by engaging the right people and making sure we move quickly and confidently.
Q: What experience from your previous roles in Brazil do you think will be most valuable in helping Amplus Energy grow?
A: I bring extensive experience from across Brazil’s oil and gas sector, strong knowledge of the local regulatory framework and how contracts and commercial structures are negotiated and delivered. Just as importantly, I’ve spent much of my career in the planning and execution of complex offshore projects. So I know what it takes to be successful.
Q: What attracted you to join Amplus Energy? Why do you think this is the right time for the company to invest in a stronger presence in Brazil?
A: I was impressed by Amplus Energy’s versatility and genuine willingness to think differently about how vessel solutions are delivered. The project with Finder Energy for the Kuda Tasi and Jahal (KTJ) oilfields offshore Timor-Leste is the ultimate proof of that. An innovative, flexible approach that would be beyond the creative thinking of most FPSO contractors.
There are projects in Brazil that are a perfect fit for Amplus Energy’s strengths. We can offer exactly what innovative projects need to move forward. The timing is right for Amplus Energy in Brazil, and I’m looking forward to helping the team strengthen its presence here.
Q: What makes Brazil an important market for Amplus Energy? What are customers looking for that Amplus Energy is well placed to deliver?
A: Brazil’s FPSO market is one of the most significant in the world. That makes it a natural priority for Amplus Energy. Several mature fields and ageing assets are available that need exactly the kind of life-extension expertise Amplus Energy has already demonstrated successfully elsewhere. In addition, there are smaller developments that only become economically viable with a versatile, right-sized FPSO unit rather than a large-scale conventional offer. That combination of innovative field development, FPSO ownership/management and consultancy solutions is our strength and should provide plenty of opportunities for us among local projects.
