Marginal Developments

Make a marginal field economic

Marginal developments can become uneconomic when the production solution, delivery approach or commercial model does not fit the field economics.

Amplus considers reserves, field life, production requirements, schedule and operating costs before assessing the best-fit route:

As an independent FPSO specialist, Amplus is not tied to a particular vessel or vessel sale. We recommend the production, delivery and commercial model that best fits the development.

Build the commercial model around the field

Amplus considers ownership, financing and operating structures alongside the technical solution. For suitable opportunities, this can include Amplus vessel ownership or leasing, access to finance, investment or equity participation.

Explore FPSO Ownership and Operations

From concept to production

Amplus can support a defined stage or manage the FPSO workstream through development and delivery, including:

  • Concept screening, Basis of Design, Pre-FEED and FEED
  • FPSO market assessment and due diligence
  • Vessel procurement, modification and transition
  • Installation, hook-up and commissioning
  • Operations and maintenance

We work alongside the operator’s subsurface, wells, subsea and wider project teams to keep the FPSO solution aligned with the field development.

Marginal development in practice

For Angola Block 14, Amplus led a field-development study for a marginal field opportunity, covering subsurface, wells, subsea infrastructure, facilities design and economic modelling.

The work identified two technically and economically feasible development options. The revised concept met the operator’s $11/bbl investment target and reduced equipment requirements by 48% against the previous base case.
